From today, users of the D6 highway passing near the village of Kamenné Žehrovic near Kladenskó can again drive without restrictions in the lane leading to Prague, which was closed since the beginning of August due to repair work. The repairs of the 5.5-kilometer road section, which cost nearly one hundred million kroner, suffered a delay, they were originally supposed to be completed by the end of September. During the renovation, the reconstruction of the roadway, the restoration of unpaved curbs and drainage, and the replacement of strip barriers took place. Part of the project was the repair of a bridge, which was part of the III. class road leads over the highway near the settlement of Tuchlovice.
The reason for the delay is to be found in the drainage works. According to the information provided by the State Road and Highway Administration (ŘSD), during the reconstruction, it was revealed that the area designated for the new drainages contains not only soil, but also partly rock. This problem affected a section of road about 900 meters long. While the construction work was carried out by the Silnice Group, the highway lane towards Prague was closed, and traffic was directed on the other side of the highway, with 1+1 lanes and a speed limit of 80 km/h. About 20,000 vehicles pass through this stretch every day, of which about a quarter is freight.
