Already on the morning of Monday, October 28, 2024, we will fully restore traffic on the right lane of the renovated D10 highway, which goes in the direction of Prague between Bezděčín and Písková Lhota, in the vicinity of Mladá Boleslav. The works started in August, which resulted in partial traffic restrictions. The final touches are currently being carried out on site, which means replacing the panels of the noise protection walls, installing steel barriers and renovating the horizontal traffic signals. The reconstruction began on August 9. The subject of the public procurement was the repair of the pavement and drainage based on the project plans. These were about the repair of the left-hand section of the D10 highway towards Prague between km 37,800 and 41,025 based on the conclusions of the diagnostic tests. About 40,000 vehicles pass through this section every day, roughly 20% of which are freight and truck traffic. The project included the repair of certain bridge structures and noise protection walls, as well as the repair of drainage elements and traffic infrastructure accessories. The affected section of road had a number of defects requiring repair, including extensive repairs, transverse and longitudinal cracks, local subsidence, potholes and ruts.
The pavement also showed defects in the wear layer, such as loss of asphalt lubricant and deeper corrosion. On the entire road section, the pavement structure was replaced with a thickness of 120 mm while maintaining the original height level. This also included milling the wear layer. Repairs to the local ground base were carried out as needed in a thickness of 60 mm. The plan also included the replacement of the expansion elements of two bridges, the repair of the passage at 40.8 km and the cleaning and local restoration of the drainage, as well as the grouting of stone pavements. They also worked on the noise protection walls, where the damaged elements were replaced.
Furthermore, during the entire construction, the steel side rails were replaced with a new type with higher protection, while the middle, two-sided steel rails were only replaced at 20% of the section based on the current condition and needs. The renovation is being carried out by the company M-SILNICE as, which submitted the most favorable offer among the six applicants during the public procurement procedure, and the cost of the works, excluding VAT, is 47.29 million Czech crowns.
